"It’s the eve of the release of Christina Aguilera's sixth studio album ‘Liberation’ and, like many, we’re still pinching ourselves that it’s still…happening.
And while we’re elated that she’s finally stood up from The Voice‘s spinning chair (anyone else feels she was glued to it at a point?), we are wondering one thing:
Where’s the much-discussed Pink collaboration?
As two of Pop’s premier voices, the prospect of the pairing left many in a state of constant excitement. Particularly in light of their former feud. Then the ‘Liberation’ tracklist was revealed and the cut was nowhere to be found.
Well, in a new interview Xtina opens up about the cut, which it seems we may be hearing at some point…soon.
Via Paper Magazine:
Speaking of Pink, she mentioned in an interview that you two had recorded a duet, but it’s not on the album. Will that song ever come out?
I would love for it too, yeah. There’s a great song we did together. And there are a few songs that didn’t see the light of day on this particular record but are in my back pocket. I’d definitely like to release that song in a really fun, cool, collaborative way. She’s just such a great artist and has grown into be such a strong force for women and I think she’s awesome. And she sounds amazing on the record. I’ve mentioned this before too, but I don’t wanna take a long break. After this album, I’m back in my artist mode. I don’t want to let that go again. I have a great team of writers and people behind me that I can just reach out to now. It’s been great being able to take the time on this record to get to know people. We’ll continue pulling through, so maybe there is another record sooner than you think after this one.
Bittersweet. While we feel Pink would have really fit the sonics and overall ethos of ‘Liberation,’ it’s warming to hear that we may still hear the song. It’s equally as encouraging to hear Aguilera stress that she won’t be taking such elongated breaks between projects anymore.
And with her seemingly slamming The Voice (latter experience) in almost every interview, she’s (perhaps inadvertently) making it difficult for her go backward. She’s at a juncture where she has almost no option other than to be “Christina Aguilera – the singer.” And that, friends, is glorious!" - ThatGrapeJuice.net
