Allow us to introduce you honey rockers to 'Grandson', thee 23-year-old alternative artist hailing from Toronto, Canada. Having grown up around by musique ranging from jazz to rock and roll to rap, and dancehall and everything else in between just like all of us likeminded artists, catchy right from the beginning is grandson's new single entitled "Stick Up"!
He started experimenting with musique production and rapping in 2013 and dropped out of school to relocate to Los Angeles and pursue music full time.
Adopting the Grandson name while living in LA, he dove deeply into rock influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, and Led Zeppelin, all the while keeping an ear out to rap/R&B music emerging out of Toronto. Adolescence, relationships, and the insecurities and difficulties of growing up through your coming of age phase play as a huge motif role.
The story in this single "Stick Up" particularly depicts a tale about a man who has society reject him and now he resorted to crimes and anarchy to survive. This post-political punk rock song is truly impactful in the simple fact that this tune should be shown to everyone in the United States. It has meaning to many middle class and poverty aspects in the USA. "A cold wind is blowing," as the chorus goes, a whole new meaning to “Stick up for what you believe in”.
But despite the political lyrics, the musique is fun brash, cocky, self-confident and purely rock n roll. Think if Marilyn Manson, Christina Aguilera, Scottish band Young Fathers, and Pharrell created a super musique group. Grandson would fit in quite fancifully if we do say so ourselves.
As a whole, the words, musique, rap, marvelous tone with raw unapologetic intention sends our wow factor ablaze!
