For the last couple of years German recording artist, composer and record producer NoMBe has been on our indie underground radar and now is featured in the latest installment of Billboard's “You Should Know” video series. Billboard sits down and chit-chats with the hunky-dory, cutie patootie singer, where he spills everything from the mystery of his upbringing to his American inspirations behind his musique.
His real name may be Noah McBeth and Noah may have grown up in the city of Heidelberg, Germany, but the following is all NoMBe: “Growing up, music was always there. My parents played music. I started playing classical piano when I was about six. My grandmother always played music around the house, so it was definitely a big thing in my family. Therefore my music is unique, it’s honest, it sounds great, and it goes many places. The first minute of my song will not sound like the last minute. I think we need more of [that] in music.”
Bill Withers, Daft Punk, Pharrell, Breakfast at Tiffany's composer Henry Mancini, Tame Impala, Electric Guest are just a few namedrops that appear during this candid meeting.
