DREAMS is thee new musique group meld together starring Luke Steele of previous band Empire of the Sun & Daniel Johns of Silverchair. DREAMS is the realization of a long-time mateship and musical respect between these two Australian fellows. The entertainers first met in 2004 when Luke’s other band "The Sleepy Jackson" supported Silverchair on their sold-out tour.
Now fast forward years later, here we are present. Celebrating their live debut this past weekend at Coachella, DREAMS, unleashed a smashing stellar collaborative project that has spawned the bubble dance electric tune “Silence”. It is the follow-up to the duos debut single “No One Defeats Us”. Although we highly prefer “Silence” in so many more ways. It is both moody and manic for every day of the week.
The duo shares how their striking video for the track came about: “‘Silence’ is a song which came to us after the Charlottesville riots. It broke our hearts to see the violence and hatred that occurred. We wanted this song to elevate the people, let their voices be heard, inspire them with courage and bravery,” Luke Steele said of the tune in a press release.
The fever dream musique video and song alike highlights singer Daniel Johns’ melodic vocals, which pulsate over flaring beats as it ascends into a highly glitchy glamorous chorus. Also purely danceable, and super-sticky, it is hands down deceptively a simple blend of early 2000 electro-pop.
