Producer Margy Whitmer said it just perfectly...“You take all of the elements that make good television, and do the exact opposite — you have ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’….yet, it worked. It's radical nature — the show covered topics like death, divorce, and racism. With the country feeling more divided than ever, everyone’s heartstrings could use a good tug, and that’s exactly what this trailer for the upcoming “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” promises."
We here at headquarters are in a complete state of unearthing teardrops. With just the simple quote shown in the trailer from the empathetic king himself has triggered our corazones. “The greatest thing that we can do is to help somebody know that they’re loved and capable of loving.”
‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’ promises to celebrate and pay homage to a gentleman who only comes to earth once in a lifetime. They don't make humans like Mr. Rogers anymore. He finally gets his own film after so long of teaching us love, humility, and gratefulness. Finally getting the recognition he deserved decades ago.
If anyone actually learned anything from kindness it probably derived from this brilliant man. Mr. Rodgers was for everyone. Those who grew up lonely. Those shunned by others. Mr. Rogers was maybe an only friend to some. But yeezus damnit whatta friend he was. Thank sheezus for him and his legacy. It’s a beautiful day to return to Mr. Rogers’s neighborhood!
On what would have been Fred Rogers’ 90th birthday, Focus Features and we send everyone light and amour. Here's the first look from Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville
'Won’t You Be My Neighbor', in theaters on June 8th.
