King musician and all around icon David Byrne, and if you shamefully don't know by now, the Scottish-American who was the founding member, principal songwriter, and lead vocalist and guitarist of thee Americana new wave band Talking Heads!
Nowadays David has been super duper busy. Turns out he's got a new mini-documentary entitled
“American Utopia: Detroit”. It's chronicling David Byrne’s collaboration with students at the Detroit School of Arts. During Byrne’s visit, the young bambinos recorded their own saucy far-out version of “Everybody’s Coming To My House,” the lead single from his collaborative solo album American Utopia.
The result of all of this wondrous footage has become David's official musique video. However, Byrne does not actually appear in the vid or even in the larger part of “American Utopia: Detroit”
Instead, here you get a group of happy go lucky bambinos unleashing a joyous, gospel-inflected interpretation of what was originally a futuristic pop tune. A description actually on YouTube read, “The streaming royalties from this video will go to Detroit School of Arts, who were also given a stipend for their participation and hard work in this project.”
So there you have it carebears. Also below we have David's new tune along with his fresh live band jazzing out his new number on The Stephen Colbert Late Night Show. Below, watch the “Everybody’s Coming To My House” in all its many transformative virtues and facets!
