In another edition of Favorite-Favorite All-Time Favorites," we feature indie psych-pop veterans Of Montreal! “Love Me Not,” is the name of their upcoming fifteenth album, but before that hot cinnamon roll in the oven finishes to bake here we have a cover of English poet and musician (and Nick Drake’s mom) Molly Drake. Of Montreal leave their yummy signature cotton candy one of a kind ting on “Love Isn’t A Right”. Superbly melodramatic it's just in time for the next upcoming holiday season celebration, Valentine’s Day.
Superstar lead singer Kevin Barnes says this about the beautifully touching cover...
"Molly Drake’s music in a Nick Drake documentary I saw a few years ago. I was touched by the elegance and sad beauty of her work. I’ve grown to adore and treasure all of her songs. I chose to cover “Love Isn’t A Right” because it felt relevant to my own life, as I have recently fallen in love. I like that the song is instructive and profound but also playful and intelligent in a way that songs about love often aren’t."
