Fashionista.com takes a look at some of the just passed Whitney Houstons fashion career (besides her singing or acting) with some of her early covers.
It was really shocking to hear over the weekend that Whitney Houston had tragically passed away at age 48. The tributes have been pouring in from everywhere, and Jennifer Hudson’s version of “I Will Always Love You” at the Grammys last night moved me to tears.
Whitney definitely had diva style and signature big hair, but she wasn’t necessarily a fashion icon. Still, she’s had a huge number of magazine covers and features devoted to her. While she’s been on the covers of countless tabloid and music magazines over the years, she got her start as a model in the early 1980s, where she was featured frequently in Seventeen magazine, including as one of the teen mag’s first-ever African American models (see above, at age 18 in 1981).
Click through to see some of her best vintage magazine features and covers. RIP Whitney.
