The finest in luxury craftsmanship were highlighted during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 with shows like Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. According to designer Karl Lagerfeld, the new fabrics of the season are weightless, translucent, silicone and plastics, adding an element of futuristic appeal. "The fabric is the most important thing of the collection," says Karl Lagerfeld, of his work for Chanel.
Makeup Artist Pat McGrath talks about her work for Lanvin. The Makeup Artist talks about the sleek hair with a bow at the end, added to the "Barbie Girls" at Viktor & Rolf. Jean-Paul Gaultier calls the hair on the models in his collection 40s style with a science fiction twist. Other designers who talk about their stellar creations include Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Rick Owens, Rolf Snoeren from Viktor & Rolf, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Giambattista Valli and more.
"I'm a leather guy and I like the idea that it was leather intensive," says Rick Owens of his boxy, architectural, self-named collection. Rolf Snoeren calls Viktor & Rolf's fashion "provocative couture." Other shows highlighted include John Galliano, Elie Saab, and Yves St. Laurent.
"There's a story, there's a fantasy. There's so much more than a beautiful dress," says actress Salma Hayek.
