Fashionista.com is reporting that fashion god Karl Lagerfeld is expected to rake in a pretty nice chunk of boy toy change in the new year from his men’s line ‘Lagerfeld’ and other sponsership deals. Must be nice!
Karl Lagerfeld’s growing list of projects is starting to confuse us, especially the many new ones that bear his name, but apparently that’s how you make money. 2012 retail revenues for the brand are expected at over 80 million euros, or $108.2 million at current exchange, according to WWD–and that’s just from his menswear line, Lagerfeld, which doesn’t have much of a presence in the U.S.
F.D. Fashion, the German company that owns the Karl Lagerfeld license also revealed that revenues increased 25% this year, and are expected to continue to increase thanks to rapid expansion and the addition of new collections and licensing deals, which are expected kick open new retail doors next year.
With his masstige line, Karl, and high-end women’s line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, set to bow next year along with new licensing deals, 2012 will obviously be a big year for Karl, the person, and his swelling Marc Jacobs-esque international empire. This of course doesn’t include the several ready-to-wear (Fendi, Chanel) and couture (Chanel) collections he designs each year. How does he do it? And how will he spend all that money? That is way more trips to Saint-Tropez than he’ll even have time for.
