Lady Gaga has premiered her 'Edge of Glory video to the masses but its not the original concept helmed by directer Joesph Kahn we recently wrote about.
But first the video which features Gaga in the most simplest form on a urban city street dancing on her own with saxophonist Clarence Clemons of The E Street Band backing her. The video is simple, straight to the point.
Now here is the backstory according to dose.ca ...
The "Edge of Glory" video didn't go down as originally planned, it seems. And according to the New York Post's Pop Wrap blog, director Joseph Kahn -- who was previously announced to helm the clip -- left the production after clashing with Gaga on set.
"I did NOT direct Lady Gaga's 'Edge of Glory' video. Lady Gaga did -- I don't co-direct. One canvas, one paintbrush. Respect the art. Very simple rule with me," Kahn Tweeted following the video's premiere.
According to Pop Wrap, several sets had been constructed for the "Edge of Glory" shoot -- and production stills of the video’s various scenes had previously leaked. As per Pop Wrap, Kahn's on-set editor, Chancler Haynes, confirmed that the leaked images were real, and that sets had been prepared "for a hospital scene, Brooklyn Bridge, and a big underwater mermaid scene."
It's unclear exactly why Gaga's Splash-y idea was scuttled, but Haynes said that there was a conflict between Kahn's and Gaga's vision, that led to the director leaving the project. Said Haynes (via PopWrap): "Gaga changed her mind and told Joseph what to do. His hands were tied. The director just didn't have control over Gaga after she started making changes [and] Joseph's concept died."
Trouble in Gaga Land? Whatever the case may be, it's never fun to see your artistic vision fall flat, no mater what the reason but sometimes the negative is unavoidable but push on you must? One fun fact about Gaga's wardrobe attire is, she wore a studded black leather Versace ensemble that Donatella herself unleashed from the vintage archive just for Gaga's usage.
What do you kiddas think about this whole mishap?
