Real Talk: Sarah Jessica Parker is Proud of Being Prude, Scared of Cocaine

“I wish I hadn’t been so ashamed of being a prude. It would have made life so much easier. I now don’t mind who knows about my opinions…I have never taken drugs in my life and only witnessed it at a party for the first time quite recently. I made the mistake of walking in to a bathroom and saw a person I knew snorting cocaine. They had a rolled-up dollar bill, like something out of the film Scarface. I was terrified that the police would raid us!”…Before I even started filming Sex And The City, I had a ‘no nudity’ clause inserted in my contract. By then, I felt no sense of guilt. I knew that I would not feel comfortable with nudity. I was thrilled that the other cast members could accept it and did it really well.”
No wait, there’s more.

“I was not being judgmental. It was just how I felt. I was not comfortable with nude scenes, scenes with sex toys or vulgar language – so I did not do any…My character, Carrie, kissed a lot of men – but that’s as far as it went. I had the maturity to control my panic about the whole series and what it meant. At one point, after the pilot show of Sex And The City was made and they wanted me to sign up for the series, I wanted to get out of it.” - Sarah Jessica Parker, star of that whole Sex and the City phenomenon, opened up to the UK’s Sun about how she reconciled being a prude with starring in the series about women who were anything but. And about how’s she’s scared of drugs and somehow only recently saw cocaine for the first time despite having been in showbiz for over 30 years. - Fashionista
