Taking the Fleas out of Chelsea
While in NYC on itsnotyouitsme reporting duty I stumbled upon the Chelsea Flea Market on route to lunch in the Meat Packing district. Dozens of vendors packed this indoor parking lot on 25th Street between 6th & 7th selling everything from African masks to mens 1960s wingtip shoes.
Back home while reading up on Fashionista they featured a story on the Chelsea Flea Market The Chelsea Flea Scavenger Hunt and mentioned the sweet finds that were to be had such as this 1970s Lucky Pierre top with a late 1890s inspired design I fell in love with and was able to wink my way down on the price with the below lovely lady who has been selling at the market for decades now.
The vendor over some chit chat mentioned that she has seen new faces come and shop at the market only later to see them become well known names in the fashion world such as "the boy who dressed the Obama lady in the White House" aka Thakoon
If I had a little bit more time I would of with no doubt walked out with more goodies but I'm very happy with my find and wish you Luck on your adventures in vintage shopping.
Here are a couple photo opts of yours truly out and about in NYC
